Hi all –
My main form of exercise/sport has for decades been running (and in my youth also competition cross country skiing and some ski jumping). But in later years, as my legs and back have started protesting against this kind of punishment, I have switched more and more to biking as a way of keeping fit. In the wintertime in the garage on a roller, in the summer on the open roads.

Bike? This winter I decided that my Merida 8900 had to be put out of its misery and replaced it with a Bros Sonic FS: Hybrids are the type of bike that fit my needs best. Besides for training, it is also my daily transport to work.

Apart from that, I’m a family man with wife and two sons, and hobbies worth mentioning besides exercising is keeping my old Volvo in mint condition (http://home.no.net/ebrox if interested) and, hm, scratch-building slotcars for proxy racing… (blush)

Regards, Erling.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm living in Norway's fourth largest city; Stavanger. (112,000 inhabitants means "large city" over here:) That's on the south-western coastline. I used to live in the city of Tromsø far, far, FAR north of the Arctic Circle though.

A tour around the whole of western Europe keeps surfacing in my consciousness. West Europe is really cool for cycling. I have already done a good part of it. Not Scandanavia yet, but a first time for everything is the going rule. My first long tour in the summer of 1984, was around the UK for seventy days. What luck. It was a drought summer. Five days total of rain that was so slight one could cycle right through it. Very unusual because it usually floods from the sky in that part of the world.

Velkommen,
that's about all the norwegian I know and I'm not sure if I spelled it right.
The other norwegian I know is: "Giv os i dag vort daglin broden" which I remember from my grandmother's breadboard hanging in the kitchen. But broden should be changed to whatever translates into "bikeride".

anyhow, Welcome again.

I'd rather have a fjiord than a Ford, anyday.

Hey, that's pretty good! I guess you know already that the line on your grandmother's breadboard is a quote from the prayer and translates to "Give us today our daily bread." It looks as if the one you remember followed the writing norm from 1904, in which case the original text was: "giv os idag vort daglige Brød". And I agree with you, we should have our daily dosis of "sykkeltur" too.

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone!

Erling.
