Mountain Biking - What would you do?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If there is a mountain trail somewhere up there in the hill, and it will take a hard ride on a relatively exhausting road to reach there, would you reach the trail by car or ride it up there?
I wanted to check out a trail somewhere near my place, and on the way to the trail is a long road. Just as I was riding, a long 15degree up slope was ahead of me and the sign says 3.2km to the trail.... I gave up and returned.
What would you do? I think by the time I reach the trail I wouldn't have the energy to enjoy it. Or is my MTB spirit not enough?

Hey,
While it'll only help your endurance to ride to the trail you're talking about, if you're not having fun, then just drive there. Pushing yourself will make you a better biker in general, but I think the most important thing is to have a good time. There's no shame in driving there, if that's what you want to do.

Haha well, as I gave up and ride towards my home, I saw another 2 teenagers riding heavier bikes( some kind of full-sub downhill) towards the trail. I feel ashamed.
ermmm havent you noticed, if you drive up to the top of the hill to get to the trail, how are you gonna get your car back, your still gonna have to cycle up there when you rode the trail, maybe you should get someone to drop you off instead.

It is all about having fun. Don't EVER be embarassed for not doing something that isn't fun. If you want to ride up there do it. If you are finding the ride grueling (beyond the level of a good time) then screw it and drive up there. Keep riding and pretty soon you will be able to ride up the hill and you will wonder what all the fuss is about. You will be proud of yourself for making it. At least that is what happened to me in a similar situation.
Remember it is supposed to be FUN!!!!!!!!!

It's not a downhill trail, so it will lead to somewhere( i don't know where that will be), so I will have to ride back to my car along the same trail.

I have to cycle 18 km to reach my trail :D , but its flat, so i can`t answer your question.
If its fun, this hill is a good exercise, its never bad to get some climbing legs!

If I had no idea where the trail went, I might be inclined to drive to the trailhead the first time. Only because I'd want to stay fresh on a unknown trail, and not ride the trail half-bonked after climbing a long distance. Who knows, you may need to dish out another 3K climb on the actual trail. It may help prevent a potential death march.

Well, it wasn't so much of this problem over the last few days. Someo of you guys may have seen the thread I had in the buy and sell forum abut my frame being too small and wanting to sell it while it's still pretty new and clean. Someone expressed interest in my frame but did not decide, so I did not dare let my bike expose to sunlight any further..... then he told me that he found a good deal for himself. I don't know what to do now, whether to get used to my frame size, or spend extra money getting a brand new frame not knowing if I can sell my old one.
I am about 170cm and my bike is GT avalanche 1.0, size small. Do you guys think this is too small for me?
the one that I used to have was about this size too, but I felt as if my CG is too high for this one. Do you guys think this size is really too small, or am I just being over sensitive?
