Skip anything with Will Farrell in it. Or Mike Meyers. If it ever comes out, skip The Pink Panther with Steve Martin - Why did anyone think that they could improve on Peter Sellers???

My girlfriend rented Be Cool and After The Sunset Last Night....

4 HOURS OF MY LIFE I WILL NEVER GET BACK!

Skip them both!

The best thing about Be Cool was a monologue about racism given by Cedric The Entertainer....if that was the best thing about a movie with John Travolta, Uma Thurman, and Harvey Keitel then stay away!!! John Travolta WAS Chili Palmer in Get Shorty. But in Be Cool he is just some hack trying terribly to imitate the actor who played Chili Palmer. It took some of the gags and cool lines from Get Shorty and tried to drag them out - over and over again.

As for After The Sunset...it was the worst heist movie I've ever seen. The pacing was slow, although I didn't mind watching Salma Hayek prance around in a bikini for most of the film. Woody Harrelson was the comic relief for this film that lacked direction (blame Brett Rattner - he had two hits with Rush Hour and the sequel but should have stayed away from this and Red Dragon, and that he is directing X Men 3 means that it may be time to find a new superhero franchise to watch). More waste of talent in this film via Don Cheadle's role, which was almost non existent. It was as if they added his character at the last minute once they begged him to be in it so that he alone may have saved this film; alas nothing could have saved this stinker. SKIP THIS ONE!!!

For a better Pierce Brosnan heist film, watch his remake of The Thomas Crown Affair.

Check out "Shall We Dance." My wife got this one from Netflix and, just to show her that I am a sensitive 21st century kind of guy, I agreed to sit down and watch it with her. I'm glad I did.

This is what a romantic comedy should be. It was funny without being a sitcom. When Richard Gere sat down to tell Susan Sarandon why he had kept a secret from her it was so believable that I sat bolt upright and realized that I had felt exactly what his character had felt but I didn't have as good a script as he had. Even Jennifer Lopez rose above her tabloid status to put in a moving performance.

The Pink Panther with Steve Martin - Why did anyone think that they could improve on Peter Sellers???

No, but see, Steve Martin is American. Nothing is relevant unless it happens in America to Americans. The list of excellent foreign movies that have been made into bland-to-excruciating American movies goes on and on. Point of No Return (La Femme Nikita) is probably the most egregious example.

The Associate, The Birdcage, Blame It On Rio, Breathless, Cousins, Diabolique, Down And Out In Beverly Hills, Father's Day, Happy New Year, Intersection, Jungle 2 Jungle, Men Don't Leave, Mixed Nuts, Nine Months, Scent of a Woman, Sommersby, Three Fugitives, Three Men and a Baby, True Lies, Twelve Monkeys (Though this was saved by Terry Gilliam's direction and a great turn by Brad Pitt)

I just know that, one day, I'll see TV ads for Run, Debbie, Run.
