Maybe 150 bucks or so. The Hayes sole brakes are single piston hydros and arent very good. Hayes Nines(2 piston) can be found for 200 bucks a set.

I'd pay $150-ish. Actually, I wouldn't, but you know what I mean.

For the FX9's or for the Soles?

Look for hopes

I'd suggest paying that for the nines, but I wouldn't buy a set myself. I rode a bike with those on it, and they seemed crappy. Hope they work better after they're broken in, and that they were just maladjusted on the bike I rode.

Hayes, Magura and Avid all have stuff on par with Hope.

Hope just has the "bling factor" so they can charge more.

I'd pay $140 for the HFX-9's or the soles.

But I like my mags better than both. Whats your budget? maybe we can help you find a good deal.

IMO, Hopes have the best lever feel and modulation.

Juicy's have the best feel after they are broken in (that takes ages) Hopes feel good, but they are the loudest brakes ever. For most people, Hayes HFX 9's or even Sole would be good enough.

For most people a set of Avid mechanicals would be plenty
