I'm in need of some dummy levers to give me another position on the bars. Has anybody used these or seen them being used? I know that I could go to bullhorns, but I like the drops in the wind and occasionally to climb in. I could also chop some old levers, but I thought these were kind of cool looking. It is their functionality that I am unsure of.
Thanks

They're originally for tandem stokers. The captain gets the brakes so the stoker gets the dummies for the same reason you want them.
chucks (chucksbikes.com) has a somewhat better looking set of stoker levers for $25.

i dont like dummy levers. use the regular ones you have lying around, in the spare parts bin.
i toured last summer fixed, (and will this summer too) and i liked having the full lever instead of a dummy, because i would hit the rear (which wasnt connected to anything) as a turbo-boost for the big hills. it was a nice psych-out on myself, by activating the afterburners, helping me get up and over the mountains.
i rode from nyc-sf, 4500 miles, 44x17, front brake. i was all the support i needed.
see? im on the left. at the highest point on the tour, big horn mountains, wyoming.

I like your style. I'm thinking I'd like to hook my unused rear brake lever up to a paint ball gun mounted under my stem. Then I can blast all the motorists.

YES! That is what I'm talking about. I commute fixed every day, but I've started doing some bigger miles fixed and have noticed that I'm getting some pain in my back right below my neck when I'm out for more than 40 miles at a time. On my geared bike, I spend about 2/3 of my time on hoods and I think I'm missing that on my fixie. Cane Creek was supposed to release this little sexy pair of ergo stoker levers this summer, but I just found out that it got pushed back to fall and my back simply cannot wait.
Nice tour and thanks for the information on the DIY afterburners.
