Yep! I just bought a black 2005 Gary Fisher Tassajara.
I upgraded the seat cause the stock one isn't too comfy.
I just got it up into my dorm room and hopefully will get it out on saturday.
Once again, Im definitely a newb to the sport. Would anyone be able to list off a few tips for me while riding this guy on the trails? Anything is appreciated!
Anything else I should consider upgrading on the bike?
Peace!!

Nice buy, ride her for a while and then make sure to bring it in for a tune up after 15-20 hours so all is adjusted right. Out of the box that bike has a good set of components and is should be nice. May aslo want a bike lock. Just got a Marlin myself, Wanna trade rims? :-)

I have had that bike for about 3 months now, and I still love it. I upgraded the rear derailleur because a friend of mine gave me a better one in a trade for my old one, he said he didn't care. Oh and I put a saddle some other guy gave me on there because I too didn't like the one it came with, but other than that it's stock.
Remember to drink water, especially when it starts getting warmer(where you are). a multi tool is good to carry with you incase you break a chain or something of that nature. Stuff to fix a flat isn't a bad idea, you'd need either a tube and a pump or a patch kit and a pump or all of it. Stay on the trails.
with that bike watch the front wheel going up hill, mine will come up if I am not careful. wear a helmet, maybe some glasses so the branches don't knock your retina's out.

ah, they're the same. Either way, if your eye was still in your head it may be kind of bloody. Not really trying to scare people, I'm sure a lot if not most people ride without wearing eye protection. I just prefer it after wearing some myself.

Those dangling retina injuries blow.

I was just playing around on the bike today and my friend told me doing bunnyhops messes up the deraillers...is this true? or can i practice them whenever?

No, not true. The chain will hit the chainstay, but thats it. Derailleur will do it's job, which is to keep the chain tension.
