Well, maybe just a little. I went food shopping today. I was advised by a previous cyclist to take about 8 days worth of food since there are relatively few places from Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks. I also hit Walmart and got a a few things like an extra tire for the BOB (still need to pick up an extra tube), some super glue, a collapsable fishing rod, and some zip lock freezer bags.

The food I plan on eating for the first week or so includes: Bean soups, rice and beans, oatmeal, trail mix, tuna, couscous, mac and cheese, granola bars, and gatorade mix. The food and water is definately going to be the heaviest part of my gear. I think it will be kind of a trade off, heavy in the wilderness, light between cities. What kind of stinks is that I'll have lots of weight in the beginning and on gravel. Hopefully I won't have any difficulties with bike mechanics that I won't be able to fix myself.
All part of the grand experience, right?
Tomorrow I take apart the bike and try to fit my gear into boxes for the flight.

Getting closer...

So much to do. Balancing between watching world cup and packing. Still have to get a few things tomorrow and then pack away the bike. I got most of the food and some miscellaneous items packed tight. Zip locks and plastic grocery bags seem to be a nice light way to organize things.
Now its just a matter of distributing things amongst my boxes and bags for the plane to avoid disaster or breakage.
