I'm headed to a bike shop on saturday, and after having my bike for like the past 4 years, I've finally decided to get a new one. My bike right now is a powerlite p-38 (i think. It must be the 20in version tho). I'm going to be jumping dirt ramps mostly, so which complete do you think i should get? I need it around the $200-275 range.

I've been thinking about either getting a DK 20in general lee, Free Agent trail devil, or some kind of hoffman.

I definatly want 3 piece cranks. Weight is not much of an issue for me.

I could also probally just buy some parts and keep my frame, since it's in pretty good condition.

why not just upgrade your bike you have now? 3pc cranks and what not would cost you less than buying a new bike.

not really, it was gonna cost over $500 to if i was gonna use the redline frame i had, and that was for wheel set, cranks, bars, sprocket, chain, pegs, tires, and grips, Then i bought the fit complete which is about the same quality as what the redline i had that you road a few times was at.

look at the Poverty Buck 99 ($199) or the Poverty G-Ride ($399), go to www.danscomp.com to look at them... they are only sold by Dans Comp though

they each have 3pc cranks, really comfy seats, 20 inch toptubes, and the G-Ride has a cassete hub and runs a 36-13 gearing..while the Buck 99 has a flip-flop hub and runs 39-14

Not really, I need the cranks, and some new wheels. My front wheel is about to give out on me. Everytime I put weight on the front, the spokes or rim like squeak or crack.

Is the General Lee a crap bike now? B/c I heard since they changed it to trimoly it's ruined.

my giant rythym is a steel frame but I think you would have to buy a used now because they have stopped production of them. they are a good bike and can handle everything I give it after 8 months or so.

1.Dude, who cares if they imitate other companies man, they sell it under there name so its legit.
2.if by cheap u mean $h!ty than u definetely havent ridden one. They aint that great, but for the price you pay there pretty good bikes
3. a bikes a bike, you pedal it and it goes, just because it says "S&M" or "T-1" on the frame doesnt make a huge difference on how well you can ride, they may be better quality but in the long run its the person on the bike that makes the difference

They will most likely try to sell you a cheap bike that will break so they can suck more money out of you by repairing it

Wow. I went to the shop today, and all they had was crap. They used to have Schwinns (before they were walmart bikes), haro, hoffman, powerlite, and gt(before huffy bought them out). Now all they got are GT and SE. They had like 1 Mosh also. Looks like I'll probally be ordering from Dan's Comp
