I'm going to acquire a new crankset for my bike, but i haven't got many knowhow or expirience on mountain bikes. I went to a shop and they shown me a crankset from shimano (at least, it had a sticker).

When i looked to the crankset it's teeths weren't all the same size, and some looked like that were broken.

Is this normal? shouldn't all teeths be equal? Is the shop guy trying to rip me off?

He said to me that that crankset has indexed gears so it's normal to that all teeths are all diferent sizes and shapes...

Can someone help

He's right. Shimano gears are notched and ramped to help the chain shift better.

Tekhead,
Just a simple question how did you guy handle it, please don't get me wrong, when the Maple leafs Lost To Carolina at the NHL, the City of Toronto, you can feel that as if a head of state died,
