General Cycling Discussion - Sitting at Tims I met ..............(just a rant)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I live in an area that doesn't seem to have a lot a cyclists in it. I was at the local Tim Hortons and a guy pulled in a i asked him where he was going and he was said he was on his fourth day of a 6 day trip from Montreal Que. to Toronto On and back. It was nice to see that at least in the this cyclist depleated area at least there are cyclist going through it.
On a seperate note related to the same issue. I was working on a renovation witha friend and a guy biked by and the dog started barking at him. I came out to see what was going on and to get the dog back in the house. When i noticed the guy looked to be a fairly seriosu cyclist i asked him where there were some trails around. to this he replied just go have a look. Thsi made me wish i hadn't tolld the dog to stop. Why couldn't he just let me know. Well since then i have been able to find some so it doesn't really matter.

The second guy probably did you a favor. Often the "best" trails in any given area are kind of "grey area", if not downright illegal. Sad but true. If too many people find out about them they become over crowded, land owners/managers find out about them and they are destroyed. So if he'd told you about them he'd hafta kill ya ;)
Don't you find that the singletrack you "discover" on your own is just that much sweeter anyways?
If you are looking for "established" trails (legal) you might try asking at the nearest bike shop or local club.

Sounds like a creep to me, I'd put the dog on him. I see it as a challenge to approach as many of the local trails as possible by bike. Reason dictates that I smile and toss a hello at anybody living on the approach routes. These are the folks that will let me use their phone if I have a major mechanical or scrape my carcass off the street. Of course, maybe he was having a bad day.

The guy was probably around that age but he was travelling alone he said. I didn't really ask him too many quesiton cuz he seemed to be in a slight hurry to get back to it.
