Bicycle Mechanics - Do you think this bike frame is solid.?

My fourth bike is sort of shared with my wife..But she rides so infrequently..Often use this hybrid at night for errands about town,since has like 35 mm tires and solid frame.
A Nishki hybrid..So, wonder if my wife did it on purpose..Several months ago my wife backed into this bike and washing machine..Put a new curve on the seat stays..a gentle kinds of curve, not a mangled mess...By the looks of the washing machine ..Amazing that is all the bikes' damage..So took it to frame people..They did not want to handle it..If did charged like $700 to put on a new frame .Said would not trust the frame..Would not reshape it.
Anyway, my work partner..He loves to work on cars, mechanical stuff...He says Cromoly is pliable and a strong material..Disagrees with this frame shop.
So he brought it to work yesterday..Rides great..Do need a new rear tire(slightly tweaked,never liked them anyway.) . Shifts normally. stays are normal shape. No significant tire wobble. . when he touches up paint, will not know it was damaged..
So my question to my partner...Cromoly is forgiving..Not weakend..? Welds are forgiving..Not weakened..Unlikely to have a frame failure? My co-worker thinks that unlikely.. any frame people out there.

Steel can be bent and rebent, so my feeling is that the frame people didnt want to spend time on a hybrid. They couldnt do a quick job because their business reputation has to depend on the quality of the work. You owe your work partner a big thank you and something.

Andrew. I do..Rob did a good job..Thought originally might have to apply heat..Found it returned to near original angles w/o...Said he used just gentle force...I still wonder about welds..Most of the impact was not near any welds.. It is a very heavy frame and welds appear to be solid...
Been thinking about what to reward my partner with...a. he loves to spend his time on this kind of thing... b. it was a challenge. said did not take all that long really.
Been riding it some too...Think he has never had a bike which has more than 10 speeds. maybe he will get the bike bug..

So the frame was checked for alignment and everything's okay? Are there any cracks in the weld area that might be indicative of them being compromised? If not then I'd say the bike is good to go. Viva La Steel!

And I agree... you owe Rob something and yeah... get him interested in cycling. Maybe he'll pick it up and start making frames. ;)

Khuon...Yeah, the alignment seems fine. Welds is what I worry about...I just skeptical welds can take much bending. Large tubing so massive welds...a heavy bike. will look more carefully.
I do owe Rob something...In years , Rob wants to go back to something more hands on- mechanical- as he once did...He kids that my wife does not really want this bike...and that I do the washing more than Gina does..so guess that she would not miss the washing machine? But , now both survived..Rob finds this kind of thing challenge..he wanted to do this..did not even ask,he volunteered.w/o being asked.But...
Rob has a mountain bike..Like a 10 speed...Compliments the gearing on this hybrid...He likes my Morph pump..Maybe that is what I will get him..with gauge... Now I am back to four bikes from 3.5....This is the bike I would borrow from my wife at night for errands or when it rains...Do not want to use that gooey (for wet conditions) lubricant on any other bike..
