Hi, my Peugeot Ph 12 needs a new bottom bracket, but I'm not sure about the type of bottom bracket. I haven't removed the fixed cup, because it can either be an ISO type, in which case it is a left-hand thread, or 'French' which would be right-hand. I'd hate to strip the threads because of this identification problem.
The bike was first introduced in 1983 and Barnett's manual describes 'French'-style BB's as being used in 'French bikes from the mid eighties or earlier'. That would make it a fringe case, because my LBS identified it as 'English".
Does anyone know if Peugeot stopped using French threaded BB's after a certain point in time? Is there another way to identify? I really hope it's not French, because I don't believe there are any French threaded cartridge bearing BB's on the market.
Thanks!
