I have a Rollsfast 10 speed with 26" X 1 3/8" tires, a Shimano Eagle shifting setup and am looking to get it back in running condition. I don't wish to restore the bike, as it's in pretty good shape, but merely want to replace the dry rotted rubber from where it spent ten plus years in a buddy's garage before he gave it to me.
The bike needs tires, tubes, brake pads and a shift cable for the rear shifter. Otherwise, the bike is in good shape I think. I've pulled the mechanics apart, cleaned the old dried grease off and regreased all bearings and such and have adjusted the cables enough to determine, excepting the rear shift cable that rubbed against the chain at one time, the bike cables are ok.
I've done a search on the net and am not finding what I feel are reasonable priced tires for this sort of bike. All I want are "street tires" of the nylon reinforced type that originally came on this bike when it was new.
Does anyone know of a good dirt cheap source for parts as I've described above? The local bike shop quoted me a price I could buy a new bike with.
