Hi, all.. I have been reading these boards for awhile. I bought a 520 in April, it has a little over 2k on it, and I will be leaving Vancouver on 7/6 heading to LA. After reading several postings, I changed my triple. I already feel the improvement. I really find it hard to believe they would put road rings on this bike, with the new rings, I can maintain 25 miles an hour (downhill of course) without even coming close to spinning out. I also changed the rear rack as that one seemed really weak. I haven't done any other mods. I am not sure how many miles a day I will cover, I am comfortable with 70 without being loaded.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for having this board, and for all the good ideas...

I made the trip you are taking a few years ago. We used Kerkendahl's (not sure of the spelling) book and it was very good. We went from Port Angeles west and down through the Olympic Rain Forest. I highly recommend that route as opposed to the inland Hoods Canal route. Not sure if you are committed but think about it, more scenery. We averaged 73 miles a day and actually went from Victoria BC to Tijuana. A trip of a life time. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.
