Mountain Biking - Older Klein ID Help... Please!

Hi folks,

Can anyone help ID this older Klein I picked up today? The seller says it's from mid '90s, but I'd like to know what model it is, year built, and general thoughts about build & ride quality. Components are Shimano Deore XT, and fork is Rock Shox Judy XC. I know little to nothing about mountain bikes, but picked up from a friend in need of quick cash (no, it's not hot). Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I emailed Klein this week with a similar question; heard back the very next day. There's a customer-service request form on their website, and they seem happy to help!

Well, since I don't know what I have here... Is it Trek, or Klein vintage? (sorta clueless) My last mountain bike, a Cannondale, was stolen around 1989! Been riding road bikes since. Thought offroad would be a nice change.

Well contact Klein and ask them. The difference between models is primarily the tubing and the wall thickness each frame had. There were a couple of models such as the early Adroit etc that used oversized headsets to go along with the gigantic diameter of tubing used in he frame.

Don't know anything about old Klein's but I have to say, I like it!

I have a 1996 Pulse II and mine originally came equipped with the same Judy XC fork. However, my II has reverse dropouts. That particular frame in the photograph has conventional dropouts.

The pulse II had a pressed in bottom bracket but used a conventional headset.
I believe the 1996 Adroit also used an integrated headset and a non-replaceable RockShox Judy SL Fork.

Hey folks, thanks for your help. I think I've got it pegged to be an early '90s "Pinnacle", and I'm guessing it was sold as a frame, and built up by it's owner. It's Deore XT is all date-coded from '95, but all my research is pointing to the last of the Pinnacle models.
I'm gonna stick some Velociraptors on it & give it a try next weekend.

Can any owners of late model Pinnacles confirm or deny that this is one?
