Mountain Biking - Fezzari bikes???

Okay so my local Costco will start carrying Fezzari Abajo Peak Pro Mountain Bike for around $850, does anyone own a Fezzari bike or have heard of them?

Because I am debating on either getting a Fezzari bike from Costco and save $500 or a 2005 Cannondale Prophet 600 from REI.

Here are the specs of the Fezzari bike; any comments will be greatly appreciated!

Costco isn't a real bike shop they have no service after the sale. While the bike looks good on paper you can put gold leaf on a turd to make it look better but it still stinks

the Fezzazi might not be half bad.

It should have a marzichie fork, Mivac wheelset, scrinnano shifters and derailleurs, and axxid squishy's disc brakes

top it off with a donson seatpost and stem, eamstam bars, and you have a sweet ride.

I purchased a Fezzari Catania Road bike a few months back and have been very impressed with the bike. I own an older Cannondale and a Specialized allez and this bike rides and fits me much better than either of them ever did. I figured I couldn't go wrong getting a 105 spec'd bike with a carbon fork for less than a grand, I spent $1400 on the Cannondale 8+ years ago and the fezzari is a better bike.

I just got my Abajo Peak mountain bike a little over a week ago and it rides much better than my old Stumpjumper fsr comp (for sale by the way, also going to sell my 2 old roadies) The Abajo Peak has no side to side flex like my Stumpjumper always had from the start.

I have done my own maintenance for years now because I have had too many bad experiences with teenage kids at the bike shop not getting it right and it's really pretty easy to do anyway. The components on both my Fezzaris are regular Shimano stuff just like my other bikes.

I would definately reccomend the Catania and the Abajo Peak seems like a good one too...we'll see.

I did see a bike - I have no idea what brand - at Costco a couple of years ago that I almost bought as a "donor" bike. It had a really nice set of parts on it and was so cheap that it was a good deal for the parts alone. So I thought about buying it and ditching the frame........never did though.

Well I dunno, both people have asking about the bike have Z's in their names and they are both newbies and the bikes name is Fezzari. Does anyone else see a conspiriacy theory building.

well i went to costco and saw the bike, in my opinion its a good bike for $850, but no way in hell does it compare to a Cannondale, so im going to REI Austin next week and ill be picking up a Cannondale Prophet 600.

You're right.. it is an advertisement. These bikes are a great deal!

I'd be very leery of the Costco bike with regards to service issues, adjustments, tune-ups, warranty issues, etc. A great reason to support a LBS where they strive for customer satisfaction, proper fit, and referrals. I can't imagine what Costo would do if the bike needs the rear derailer tweeked/adjusted...return it for a new one? If I'm spending my money, especially that amouont, it'll be where service and warranty are in place. Our LBS's in Sacramento all give a tune/adjustment service package that's worth a lot. Another thing is that Costco will make a run of these for 1-2 years and presto...they are history. Remember the 50cc gas scooters they had 2-3 years ago?.. Come to find out parts are non-exsistant for them..SOL.

Getting a good raport with an LBS is so much better than saving a few dollars on an inferior bike. You will wind up taking it to an LBS for service anyhow since there is no way Costco is gonna do it for you and if you don't have any history with them it could become real expensive real fast.

I actually just saw this yesterday when I took my bike in for a simple retensioning of all the cables (which of course was free, they were happy to do it since I bought my bike there, and it took all of about 20 minutes while I hung out) and I hung out for about 2 hours talking with the owner.

While I was in there a guy brought in a bike that aparently he had gotten for $75 cheaper online than he could have through the LBS. Do you think they did his tune up for free? Nope, $35 and leave it overnight.

Keep your money in small local businesses. Better products, better service, everybody wins.
