Hey guys! I'm looking to upgrade my current bike. I got it when I was 11, so I've outgrown it. I am in high school and my parents won't allow me to get a job. They want me to concentrate on school, so I don't have a lot of spending money, basically what I got for my birthday and my parents will kick in a little bit. We're not rich and I would work if they would let me, so please don't lecture me about getting out there and working. I want a decent bike though, not some Wal-MArt Mongoose. I've been searching the net and deals are pretty hard to come by it seems. I did find a K2 Zed 1.0 sorta in my range and also a Marin Bobcat trail bike. Are either one of these any good? Is one better than the other? Does one brand stand out more as more reputable etc?

You can find much better deals on ebay or pinkbike.com. Check out the specialized hard rock, thats a good everything bike with good components. The beauty about places like pinkbike or ebay is that chances are the people selling them to you have built their bikes up with better parts. So basically, your getting a better bike and parts for less then the marin or k2.
