I just found this forum while searching google for information on the Trek 520. I read the link, then visited the forums for a little while and read a couple forums. I figured I'd sign up because this seemed like a great place to learn about cycling, and being able to become more serious about it.

My goal for cycling is simply to lose weight and get in shape in an enjoyable way as opposed to exercising, which is something I can't really get into. I've always enjoyed riding my bike however.

I really don't know much, so I'm mainly here to learn and find out what kind of bike is good, what size is good and all of that jazz.

The kind of bike that is good for you is one that you will enjoy riding, and ride often. There are so many to choose from: road, mountain, comfort. I ride a recumbent trike, which is a little like pedalling a lounge chair on three wheels. I'm not in it for the speed, but it is good exercise, and a ton of fun.
