What plans, tours, races events do you gyus have planned this year

I'm settled on doing at least the Alabama portion of the Natchez Trace. What about you guys? How are you gonna satisfy that wonderlust?

I'm pretty new to the bent scene so I fear really long trips at this point but I've been thinking about trying out some of the Georgia bike routes. I recently got copies of the map of Georgia bike routes and I guess I'm pretty taken by it. I'm considering a multi day trip, provided my wife and kids won't mind taking a little vacation this fall to meet me at some planned stops. I'd really like to be able to bike from Savannah Georgia to central Tennessee but I think that might be a bit much for a first long ride.

Whether I do it or not I sure do enjoy staring at the map and coming up with different ways to get certain places.

My first really long ride on my bent will be the 19th Annual Chesapeake Bay "Asthma Ride" Bike Tour. My goal is the classic century on Saturday (4 June) followed up with a 20 mile recovery ride the next day. This is a pretty flat ride, so I'm not sweating being able to keep up with everyone. My husband and I will be joined on this ride by our 13 and 10 year old children.

The only thing I have planned is the wildflower ride in week (100k), the horsey hundred back home in Kentucky, and the tour de Goatneck. After that I have no clue!

:) This year I plan to go to the Czeck Repuplic and I will certainly bring my lowracer with me without any extra cost for the bike. For almost a month or so I will enjoy the free life of a vagabond camping where it suits me and hopefully meet a lot of beautiful women and wild dogs that will keep me company. I have already made that experience at home and I can assure you it's the best kind of life you can imagine :)

I am going on Freewheel (www.okfreewheel.com). Then a group from our local club will be riding the KATY trail's entire distance in Missouri. Of course, it is not just open to club members. If anyone wants to come private message me.

Sounds like everyone so far is planning rides because they have a recumbent. I'm the opposite. When I heard that a Pacific to Atlantic tour was being planned in order to celebrate our church denomination's centenial in Canada (sea "seatosea.org") I decided to get bent. I'm planning to ride the Vancouver to Regina portion of the trip which is three weeks long and 2010 km. About 100 are planning to ride the whole tour 7100+ km) and about 20 others, like myself will ride a third of the way. I hear that it will be the largest cross country bike tour ever. It will begin in Vancouver on June 25th. As far as I know, there is only one other bent (a trike) on the tour. I'm riding an Action Bent Road Runner, love it, just hit the first 1000 km, and have done two very hilly centuries..., although here in Canada that's in Km's, (like 62 miles or something). Haven't seen another bent on the road yet, although there is apparently another one in town.

I'm looking forward to the tour. Appreciate this forum for the information that got me started on bents 6 months ago.

I don't know if I'd draw that conclusion. You make it sound like we wouldn't be going on rides/tours except for the fact that we're recumbent riders. Like many, maybe most others, I rode uprights before I got my first bent. The difference is, I'm enjoying the rides more now.

You're right; bad conclusion. Let me rephrase: For me the prospect of a tour prompted me to finally get a recumbent. When I tried one out six years ago I figured "if I ever go touring, this has got to be the bike!"

Just got my bent. Hope to do an easy 50 to 80 miles Sunday and that will be my first long distance on it. Have done 9 club rides with 3 80+ and 2 100+ miles on my touring bike so far this year. Have a 800+ mile ride down the Oregon coast and back in July planned. After that there are 12 more club rides into October. With my daily commute I should get more than 5,000 miles this year.

500 miles across Iowa. This year, it's relatively short and flat.

Was going to take my V-2, but I recently traded it for a Volae Century, even up, from a fellow benter from Wisconsin. Man, the seat on this Volae fits my back like a glove. Never thought I would say it, but it's better than the Rans seat.
