My current bike has seen it's last days. I was down at my LBS and spotted a 04 Hardrock Pro Disc for 559. Does this sound like a good price? They let me get a feel for the bike (great shop). It felt great. I can always upgrade some components later. I don't mind paying a few buck extra because not only does this shop have great sales people they also educate me as well. I think this is well worth the extra bucks. They got an 05 for 630 but the components look pretty similar. The only difference was the color scheme (the 04 has got the black/gray flame). What do you guys think? It's 3:30 L.A. time and I'm gonna be there at 5:00.

Think I might go for the 04. The wife is gonna shell out some cash for the ride so I gotta be cool if you get my drift. Also, I don't want to eat hot dogs and canned beans for the next month. Decisions...Decisions.

nah man buy the 05 ,its only 70 $ more ,and you will have some of the best (not the best) mech disc brakes around.specialized has its reasons for the upgrades ,i have heard damn bad things about those shimanos.i don't know that d-5 crankset from truvaktiv but i am pretty sure the blaze on the 05 is slightly better too.
here an example how specialize improves their products constantly, pretty much everyone complained about the the front derailler on the 04 model(check mtbr!!) ,and guess what they upgraded it.do what you want ,but i would get the 05 ,has a nicer paint job too-if you care.

Good! Jeebus thats a give away, if indeed it is PRO Disc. It retailed at $1100. I got one in Feb. for 700 and thought that was a steal.

Buy now, sell later if it don't work out.

paid the full 700$,but that is what happens if you don't have competition.the next mountain is like a 15 hour ride from here = people don't buy mtbs.at least one of the machanics rides a p.1 rigid/ss and he helps me out and shows me stuff ,if i can't figure it,that is worth money too.mine was the first pro they ever sold ,go figure.
