Ok I am not debating the whole helmet issue here.

I was looking at TT helmets this morning, mainly due to the fact that they do indeed save time in itts (well about as much as taping the vents on the helmet). I have looked at several models but I am a little confused about one thing. Which helmets are actually legal to use in USCF/UCI events? What certifications are actually required for the helmet?

Some helmets are rather cheep (looking specifically at the helmets with the long fairing out back like the pros use) while some are more expensive but have more certs. I can assume they are more expensive because of that. Thanks as usual

(A like to the guildlines would be nice).

All helmets used in UCI sanctioned races must pass stringent impact tests. Gone are the days of the old plastic teardrop for TTs.

You could probably find the standard helmets must meet on the UCI website, but here's a brief article from cyclingnews.....

Rudy Project makes a model called the Syton or the Syton Supercomp (same as the Syton but with ear covers). Very neat helmet I have one now...can't wait for the next tt in about 6 weeks. www.rudyproject.com, I believe. They're backordered for a few weeks though, they sold out their first production run in about 8 seconds. Maybe another online retailer besides Rudy has one...
