Mountain Biking - New Bike

Hey guys, i am new to mountain biking and i want to do some free riding. I rode street and dirt on 20 inchers but i stopped for a while and started again and i brought a specialized hard rock sport in which i took to my local bike shop to get changed to single speed. the guy there wrecked my biike completely. The chain always comes off of the rings every five minutes. I have a single speed derailleur and it still happens. He tried to make me buy new rims for no reason becuase he dented mine heaps. The cranks are now all bent because her hits them with a big hammer to get them on and they come loose and fall of about every 10 minutes. It is always clunky and fu@#ed. All i wanted to was ride street and dirt and now it is a challenge to just ride donw the street. Worst of all the guy says its my fault. After all the wreckin he charged me 300AU which is half the price i got it for. Now i need a new bike. I want something i can do dirt jumping and downhill and street with but it has to be a duallie. What is the best dual suspension freeride strret jumping mtb for about 1200 australian dollars that can be upgraded easily. Sorry for the big post but i really need to vent my anger

i didnt think full sus was good for street jumping? AUD1200 doesnt get much suspension, especially if you want downhill with that. maybe a frame? but if you can afford it, go kona coiler.

you aren't gonna get much of anything for 1200AUD. I think you had the right idea trying to work on the specialized. I don't see how properly tightened cranks could come off. and they just need to be tightend down, not hammered down. sounds like you need a new mechanic to me.

Yeh he is the only one in our town. He wrecked everything all of the riders said it too. I even put lock tite on it and it still comes loose. Also when it was finished i was riding along and one of the pedals slipped off and most lkely threaded the pedal andcrank. Oh and there is spacers all over the joint making the chain be on a digonal anglee.

that sounds pretty crappy to me. Look under the freeride hardtails. I don't really know what AU transfers to US but all those bikes would work very well for riding street. I am probably going to get an STP when I get my capital up.

Get a book and learn how to work on it yourself. A complete amateur couldn't be any worse than that guy sounds. A hammer and loctite to install cranks.....eek!

so is there any bikes that are dual and under 1200 aus or even some cool freeride jumping bikes?

some dont have to be dual suspension but they have to really goodish
