Are these really the best rims/wheelsets for freeriding. Also I wanted to get just the rear wheel, does anyone know where I can get that?

If you just need a rear then buy a super beefy rim like atomic labs stuff with some beefy hub. Maybe the DT stuff or XT, jujus even better. ANd get monster spokes like wheelsmith DH13 if you are really going to punish them

I have seen rear onlys on ebay. If you only have one yellow deemax, it might look a little goofy, but (I think) the 04s were silver.

The atom labs stuff sucks. From my experiences when I rode atom labs wheels, had to rebuild them a few times due to the rim coming apart at the pins.

then get some other beefy as hell Rim. Vuelta Excaliburs are one. IM a believer in traditional, handbuilt wheels and i think mavic is overpriced

You pay for handbuilt rims that are welded and that the wheels like the DeeMaxx are hand built in the factory, I'd rather invest my money into a set of wheels that the rims are hand built and welded and the wheel is handbuilt. Can't get much more traditional than that.

I gave my 729's a work out tonight that would have had my old wheel set in pretzels, get home give them a spin, as true as the day they were made. I have to say I'll live and die by my Mavic rims.

What about DT wheels. Anyone here have a set of Onyx FR wheels?

have i owned a mavic rim personally? Nope. I wont pay for them like I said. However i have built up a wheel with a mavic rim. I will admit it was really true and much less frustrating to build up as opposed to a Sun.

Id rather have a 729 and a different hubset, like Hope, CK, or DT than run the Deemax.
