Found a sweet deal on a Schwinn Rocket Stage 2. marked down from $800 to $550... anyone have any experience with these? the componentry seems very good for the price, and If a couple of things aren't that great I'll just upgrade them later.. but what do you guys think? Take a look at the components and let me know if you think this is a good deal.. thanks in advance!Schwinn Rocket 2 '04 (http://www.tooya.jp/main/04'schwinn%20rocket%202.html) This is just an entry level bike for me, ill be hitting up trails around my area on the weekends

doesn't semm horribly bad .has decent components, but i just don't know about a F\S for that price.you will probably be better of if you invest the money in a nice HT.
if you just want to ride around some trails it will probably do the trick.

it just seems to me that at $550 most of the hardtails even have worse componenets than this, so i figured full suspension couldnt hurt.. atleast not brand new, because this is a brand new bikes, never been ridden.

if you will take it out on the weekends for a little trail riding it will probably be pretty good, but i would still aim at a hard tail if you want to get more serious.in the end you will get more value in the frame with similar components, therefore better upgradeable for the future.you never know how fast you get hooked.

Looks ok, for $550 I would consider it if I needed a bike.

update.. went ahead and put it on layaway, looked into the components into more detail and decided it was quite a bit of bike for the money. the front suspension forks are about the same as on any of the hardtails in that pricerange, and the fox vanilla is supposed to be a pretty decent rear shock. also the frame on it is the same as the one on their $1800 '05 full suspension, so i'm not worried about that.. anyway, thanks for the feedback, im looking forward to picking it up in the next couple of weeks
