Just thought I'd say hi, am a born again cyclist having started commuting to work a couple of years ago when I was living in Dublin ( the last time I had owned a bike prior to this was when I was about 16). Currently use a Norco hardtail to commute to work through the Auckland rain and traffic, looking foward to getting into onto the trails once the weather improves a bit here. Anyway, I have been reading the forums quite a lot lately and have found all kinds of great advice, thanks everyone, thought it was about time I signed up :)

There are quite a few Aussies her, but not many Kiwi's. Welcome! Glad you decided to join. Let us know what the trails are like. Had a friend who cycled down there a few years ago. Said he spent most of his time dodging sheep.

Hello guys, thanks for reading a bit about me! I had noticed there were a couple of ockers on here and I thought I should represent godzone :) NZ is a great place for biking if you are out of the cities, for on roaders there are some well paved roads that are not too busy, and for mountain bikers there are several purpose built trails, combined with some stunning scenery. Cities are not so enlightened, us kiwis love our cars (me included) and cycle lanes are non-existant, one example is that Auckland is vrtually split in two by the harbour, and is connected by the harbour bridge, with no bike lane whatsoever, it is illegal to ride your bike on the bridge (although i have seen it done :)). anyway, good to talk to you all, and see you on the forums.

Hi Kiwi- Welcome!

Aren't you kiwi's known for your great adventure racers? Did you by chance get to see any of the last Ecochallenge? The scenery was breathtaking! You do live in God's country! -Yvonne
