Mountain Biking - Extended travel on a Dirt Jumper 3

I've got an '03 DJ3 that I bought brand new about weeks ago with 110 mm of travel and I was wondering, is there a kit or anything that can boost it up to 130 mm?

well if he says he bought it new ,and no one messed with it ,then it has 130 mm .that is stock.

Since its an 03, he couldnt have gotten in new. DJIIIs are usually OEM forks and are easy to find for cheap on ebay.

Remove one I and you have the right OEM DJ fork.

If a "stock" fork comes with 130mm travel, the i should be able to bring it back up to 130mm from 110mm right?

yes,with a kit ,which i think also includes different springs and is pretty expensive.in my eyes not worth it for less than an inch of travel.also its a dj3 ,you really don't need more travel on that fork ,thats why mz cut all theire djs back to 100 mm stock .

i want more travel because I don't have the money for something bigger like a sherman (which is what I really want) and I keep bottoming my fork out and it starts to piss ya off after i while. How much do you think it'll cost for the upgrade?

i think the travel kit is like 60 $ - 100$ green ones ,maybe even more ,i forgott.
and here we got your problem ,bottoming out has very little to do with the travel but with the pre load.get some air in that fork and you will never bottom out .more travel only allows you to be a little more flexible on the pre load ,and 2 cm won't do much there anyways!!!!

it's stiff, trust me. any stiffer and it'll feel like a rigid fork.

then there is no way that you bottom out .i got the same fork but with 130 mm ,i got like 50 psi in each side and yes it is almost rigid but i don't bottom out on drops. i really don't see your point ,its a dirt jump fork ,its suppossed to be stiff so it can take big hits,so you have to adjust pressure and live with the consequences.don't expect to have a nice flexy fork for trail riding that you can just take off a 10 foot drop.upgrading travel will be a waste of money because it will not do what you think it will.

I guess i'll just save and buy a sherman, but I'll take my bike in and see what the price is. If it's $60 it'll be worth the extra 2 cm. If I'm lucky maybe they can make it 150. The thing is I use a dirt jump fork for DH and urban so the extra travel will save my hands from throbbing after a run down the hillside.

i use the fork for urban only too,and i jthink it does well for it .can't you just run less pressure if you go downhillin and pump it up real good for urban ridin?thats what i would do .just call marzocchi ,they can tell you what the deal is and even send you the kit .
