Just wanted to share my excitement. The race wasn't a huge one, just the cat V section of the first of the new wednesday night crit series in colo spgs. But it was my first win and i have my collegiate conference races this weekend so i'm excited. I lapped the entire field today except for second place who was a solid 3/4 of a lap behind. realized no one was gonna help me work in the early stages of the race, so i figured i'd make it hard for them to stay on my wheel, turns out they couldn't. did the race as part of a training ride, 20 miles there, raced, 20 miles back, was a good day coming off of a hard 50 yesterday. excited for my chances this weekend after a few recoveryish days

i kinda wish moving up was an option at this point, but it was only my third USCF mass start, (first two i was sick so i was pack fodder), as noted above i'm a collegiate rider, so that's where my limited experience comes from.

Great job! I was there last night and watched you attack the group early. I was surprised no one went off with you, but you got out quick and didn't let up - very nice!

I raced in the CAT1-4 race (came in 4th [my shameless plug]... the 2nd and 3rd place guys stayed just beyond my reach... the 1st place guy was gone right off the bat). I race for Pikes Peak Velo.

cool, yeah the first and either second or third placed guys race for my team. First is Josh Gewirtz, second or third, depending on how the sprint wound up was Conrad Colman, good guys. Good work though!

That just doesn't seem fair...good job anyway.

Do those guys race Collegiate Mens A? I'm just a CAT4, so was a bit apprehensive to race in a CAT1-4 crit. Next week's will be an A/B format... anyone can race in any or both races, though CAT5 can only race in B.

yeah, they both race collegiate A's. Josh is one of the top collegiate riders in the RMCC, as well as a cat-1 semi-pro, never placing lower than 3rd in a race this year. Too bad for me, unless i can sneak into the a's i'll be stuck in the B-crit for a while longer as i've got a while to go before i can upgrade.

mass start collegiate races count for you ten races to upgrade from cat 4 to 5, at least they do here. thats what I did, and I'm a 4 now. of course I got my ass kicked in the tour de moore, at the 3/4 field.
