So yesterday I took a minor spill on wet bricks. My left brake hood (Shimano Sora- triple) is bent inward at a 45 degree angle to the drop bar.

I'm fairly new to all this, but I understand this is what they are designed to do in a crash. How do I move it back (brute force doesn't seem to work)?

Is there anything else I should check before riding again? As I said, it was a minor spill (ie, no frame damage). Also, I came down on the non-drive side.

Thanks in advance!

There is a bolt to loosen the clamp mechanism so you can adjust the lever, then clamp it tight again. You access the bolt from the front, under the lever.

Carbon handlebars may not react well to twisting the levers but Al bars are fine.
When re-aligning the levers, you can fine tune the position for comfort. I prever a few degrees on cant in mine so they point in a fraction.
