and now I REALLY wish I hadn't!!! I was just going to clean it up. I had no idea there was THAT much going on in there. There are a few little parts that fell out and I have no idea where they came from. Is there a diagram somewhere that will show me how to put this back together?

Find an older edition of Glenn's Bicycle Repair Manual, like 1973, it will have overhaul instructions for that hub. I've overhauled one of those hubs, no problem, but it helps if you carefully disassemble it so you know where all the parts go.

I was thinking Bendix too. But Glenn's might have data on SA hubs as well, if I remember I'll check the book tonight.

Sturmey Archer made a 2 speed kickback? I did not know this. Or is it a cable shifter type?

No It's not a kickback hub-it's a dull old cable shifter.
