ok, i just got a frame.. and the headset spec is 1 1/8" but they also put HEADSET – CANE CREEK IS 2 so i called and asked and they said as long as the other headset is IS 2 compatiable, then it'll fit. what do they mean by that? i thought all headset should fit besides maybe the campy and shimano being a tad bit different.

It would be such a nice cycling world if all headsets were the same wouldnt it? Your headtube calls for an integrated headset. Cane Creek IS2 is an example of one, just look for integrated in the description

If you have one nearby, go for it. Or just order it. Either way 25 bucks is a steal

I ran across this article at some point - it really helps explain the headset thing:

Same form price integrated or non, so I'd go integrated for the cleaner look. The CC headset IS-2, IS-6 or IS-8 should all work. Pricepoint has the IS-6 on sale for 40 bucks and is suppossedly a step up from the IS-2.

thanks.... after looking at the parks website.. it looks like i will need some tools to install the headset. my frame's headset tube looks machined and prepped. so do i need some special tools to install the headset or will my trusty rubber mallet do the job?

You need a headset press, or improvise one, as explained in this thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=77527&highlight=headset+press). Don't do the rubber mallet, not on a nice new frame!!! Getting the headset cups square to the head tube is extremely important.

But the IS2 is an integrated headset. Shouldn't need to press in cups. The bearing goes right into the headtube.

coolio.. so that means i can just pop it it.. slide in the fork and BAM! done???

so does that mean this fork - nashbar carbon fork (http://www.nashbar.com/profile_moreimages.cfm?category=86&subcategory=1182&sku=10724&brand=) will work with the IS2?
