Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Ate shi*t

While changing to a higher gear on sunday at the track, the lockring felt loose and couldn't tighten it enough. So on the way home from work today, had to slow cuz a car decided to slow down in the middle of the street so i slowed down then it suddenly slammed on the brakes. When i went to skid, the lockring slipped and instead of a face plant onto the trunk of the car i decided to veer towards the curb and proceeded to eat sh*t. Didn't get hurt, just ruined my beautiful bartape job.

What is a way for me to fix the lockring for now? cuz i can't afford a new wheelset now.

are the lockring threads stripped? if they are you can use jb weld to attach the lockring again, but it'll be a huge pain to get off later.

yeah if they are stripped and you can't afford a new wheel that is wha I would do. And then when you CAN afford a new wheel, just ditch the broken one.

try blue ( i think ) loctite.

if the threads are stripped badly loctite (red is the permanent stuff) won't work.

i stripped the lockring threads completely off my pos suzue basic hub, and was able to resurrect it by jb-welding the lockring back on.

after i got a new wheel i was able to get the lockring off by cutting it into a couple of pieces with a dremel, and pulling the pieces off with vice-grips.

that allowed me to save the cog, and the wheel is now on the girl's bike, set up as ss.

yeah if its really jacked, skip the loctite and go straight to JB weld
