Brown paper Santa came yesterday. I now have in my possession 3 powder coated white Velocity Deep V rims. They are a vision of taste... Now, to tie them to hubs.. and place them on the Thylacine....

One's in case one of the others gets dirty.

Oh yeah, just unlace the wheels and stick on the new rim... its just too bad if they both get dirty. Then they wouldn't match.

No, I got one in 36 hole variety such that if I decide to do the rear wheel 36, I'll be ok. The rims are supposed to be pretty hard to get a handle on. The extra may go for sale or become a rim on the beta man bianchi...

I believe Freewheel on Hayes has 'em. And you can order them direct from Velocity like that. Also Yellow Jersey (http://www.yellowjersey.org).

out of the box velocity rims that are painted / powdercoated have the silver machined sidewalls, not so pretty. powdercoating silver rims looks so nice if you ride brakeless. and your not limited to velocity stock colors, white, black, red, blue, yellow, pink, gold, black anodized. the downside is you gotta ride with a cable or locking skewers so your wheels are still on your bike when you get outa the bar.

Did you do anything to the braking surface before having them powder coated? How about some pics?

If you intend to use a brake I hope you left the machined surface without powder. I did a set of deep v's in flat black and the squeeling that comes off the powder whan the brakes are applied is enough to make your fillings come loose.

Willy - the Levels?

I'm a bit hesitant after reading about the Chub Hub fiasco... But they are still the #1 choice.

I'm about two weeks away from buying the first hub. I got the stem finally, but haven't had the time to cut the fork down and put it on.

I'd like to get them coated too, but they're not made that way. Yellow or better yet, black.

Black hubs, yellow spokes, white rims... That's a bit much. But the bike is a bit much too.

WK - Bikeophile mentioned that he was getting some Levels in black - you might want to ask him about them or get in touch with Level directly.

Once again you've provided that valuable information that spurs motion.. Thank you so much. I'll ping the Level Folks today, see what they say... They are a little more affordable than Phils, surely.
