So if I'm converting a road bike that has a 130mm spread at the rear, what size hub can I use?

I find that very few fixed/single rear hubs are 130's, plenty of 135's and 120's. I know IRO sells 130 flip-flops, but I have a bike shop hookup and can't get the IRO's discounted (I know, they're not expensive anyway, but don't rub salt in the wound of my poverty).

Can a steel frame be coaxed into accepting the extra 5mm's of a 135, or are there spacers to make a 120 work?

Two 5mm washers should do the trick, I'd think...

5mm washers would work... only if the axle is long enough to accept them.

so.... i have some suzue promax in 126mm... maybe the do a 130mm... i think you can phils in a 130.

If the hubs are real IROs then the axle will be long enough. just need spacers
If they're they're the regular Formula version, then no luck.

if it is steel, then it is pretty simple to respace the stays. you might want to try 135. only have to find 2.5mm on each side.
