well I hope I have not painted my self into a corner.

99 burley softride tandem frame I picked up a few weeks ago.

It has the capt bottom bracket and the acentric bearings and two sealed bearings w/a axle stuck thru it.

now the rear is just a open hole burley says that it takes a 6203 bearing and a axle. My question is as long as I get the right length can I simply order a tapered axle and with the bearings put it together

burley says that they no longer have this axle. I have requested the specks to see if something else will work. or maybe take it down to the machine shop and have it turned to speck.

Has any one ever run into this ?

after I get this squared away I can continue on with planing the build. since this will deal with the cranks and spacing ect.

if it is an English threaded bottom bracket shell, you can install any English threaded bottom bracket. Measure the length of the captain's spindle and order a new bottom bracket with the same length.
