Help me decide on an entry-level CX bike. I use to MTB and enjoy occassional road riding, so i'm considering a CX bike. Price range should fall around 500-700 if possible. I can't seem to find a good one.

I think entry level cross bikes are more in the $900-1000 range- jamis nova, surly cross-check, redline conquest
if you take a size 56, REI has their Novara cyclocross bike on sale online for $718 (and maybe you local store has other sizes). i don' thave personal experience with the bikes

Yea most most entry level bikes will fall closer to $900+ unless you can find a closeout or sale on an '04 which is like finding a needle in a hay stack.

I just bought a $630 cyclocross from nycbikes.com, but they don't have it on their website. If you give them a call and tell them that's what you're looking for though, they'll have it.
I'm by no means a hardcore biker like most people on here, but it was absolutly perfect for me. I was coming from a Trek Alpha 4500, so pretty much anything was a step above that kind-of entry level mountain bike. Sadly, the trek was stolen last weekend, and $600 was just about my max for a bike replacement.
I've been eyeing the Poprad for a year, but just haven't found an extra $1300 in my budget, but I still loved the cyclocross as a genre of bike. When I was in the store, I explained what I was looking for, and the owner just picked this bike off the shelf. It's got pretty low-level parts, but it's still the fastest, most entertaining bike I've ever ridden.
I haven't been able to find much in the way of reviews of their bikes, but from what I've seen people seem to say the frames (which they make) are decent, but that they put on fairly cheap parts, and this is pretty consistent with what I've found. The nice thing though is that as I develop more of a taste for what really seperates a $1300 Lemond Poprad from a $600 Nycbikes Cyclocross, I'll be able to at least make up some of the difference by swapping out better parts. At least, that's my plan.
