I know, it sucks. Last week I've been able to ride in the morning, but this week not. it's realy frustrating.

Does rain stop you riding?
I would imagine that in a Florida summer it makes a refreshing change to the heat. Most rain bikers find that fenders keep most of the road grime away from bike and rider.

Another person from Orlando. You know the pain!!!!!!!

Well let me change it from rain to a down pour. In Florida we have what we call the Florida ice. All the oil off the roads float up when we get this much rain and not only is it usually a down pour with lightening but you slide along.

Sorry about the weather GB. Sounds like this Spring up here. All the rain we had was one of the reasons I bought my Axis.:)
The trails were unrideable.

DG I was sitting here in front of the computer and I had just pulled up the pics of that Axis you had emailed me a while back. I think it is time to bite the bullet and get one on its way to Orlando!!!!!

Its amazing how the sport of cyclocross looks likely to grow thanks to bad weather. We had a HUGE amount of rain through May and the beginning of this month. In one four week period, 500 km of my 1500 km were on my 'cross bike, mostly in the rain...

Michael, it's not only the rain but there are no bikelanes, (at least at my side of town), which makes it very dangerous.
GB, which side of town are you? I'm in the south west, close to I-drive.

I'm in the Conway area. South east of down town. I was on a ride a few weeks ago in your neck of the woods.

I agree with what you said about the cyclocross becoming more popular because of bad weather. I remember and forgive me if this wasnt you but I believe a while back you said in a post that a cyclocross might just be the best all around bike made. I have looked and looked at them and just when I think I am going to buy a road bike a week like this comes and I lean back to the cyclocross.

In Vancouver it rains 300 days out of the 365 days of the year so you get a liitle bit more than just used to the rain... it becomes normal.
I've been in Florida in the summer, and the rain there can be incredible. I mean, we get thunderstorms here and have had some pretty bad ones, but rain in a tropical climate is something else. It just comes down in sheets, like someone is pouring a bucket over your head. And it doesn't just blow over- it rains for hours! ANd then after, it's just as hot and humid as it was before it rained.

You are correct about the rain. It comes in buckets.

I've been able to sneak in 25 miles this morning.
A little break from the rain, but this afternoon and for the next three days a lot more is expected.

Another sunny Sunday... NOT!
Rain rain go away
so I can ride my bike today
This sucks. What do you when you can't ride? I pull out my sewing machines. Still, I'd much rather be riding.

I walked outside. I looked up and believe it or not I saw the sun. I couldnt believe that by the looks of it I could probably get in an hour or so of ridding. I became very depressed as I turned back to my house that after two weeks of rain.........I needed to mow the lawn.!!!!!! I know that wasnt the best thing to pick but I mowed and thought of what the ride would have been like! And again it is now raining....
It was nice this morning but horribly warm, windy and humid this afternoon with a thunderstorm warning. SO I went to the gym instead. Then we got a horrendous thunderstorm with lightning, etc at around 6pm. TOmorrow is supposed to be nice and sunny.

We get a normal amount of rain in Toronto...but we get a lot of smog :)
The sky always looks a bit hazy because there are always giant pollution clouds floating around.
It's definitely great for the lungs :p

amir nice nick but i have been promoted to Senior Vice President im 16 too so im close in age
The smog is one reason I could never live in TO. I've been there in the summer and the smog is nauseating- it's like a sticky film all over you on a hot day. I literally felt sick from it. I never realized until then how much better the air quality is in Montreal.

i hate it here in TO.. we get Smog all the time. we had a record 14 smog alerts last summer.. never mind the normal extreme humidity days.. i payd 140bux jumped on a train and went to montreal for 2 weeks so i could go riding.. i chilled with my friend
its not really TO that creates the smog.. We get it more from Michigan and Hamilton then from actual city centre. sure we create some but most of it is not directly TO
The rain whilst bearable does indeed suck. I spent two weeks in Norwegian downpour doing 120km a day on a fully laden tour, camping at night etc., putting on wet clothes in the morning - rewarding once we'd completed our goal, but fun I'm not sure about.

Yaaay! Saw the sun this morning for the first time in days and days. Took the bike out for errands and just soaked up the rays. Unfortunately it was short lived but it's a good sign.

Sounds like ya'll need a new state motto. ;)
I've often thought that was a dumb motto- California is more sunny. Florida should be:
The Hurricane State
The Soggy State
The Disney State
The Gun Owners Paradise
The Senile Driver's Paradise
The Geezer State

I can't stand it anymore. These summer monsoons have brought over 20" of rain in one month. This is not morning people type of weather. Who stole my sunshine? This is the Sunshine State. Obviously the idiot who thought of that one was a snowbird.
Geez and you haven't even had a hurricane yet! Time to move to someplace drier!

Green lion you are correct. This is the 3rd week in a row. I think I may know of a way to get some oars on the bike. I just need to find a way to get it to float!!!!!!!!!!

wow - perhaps the weather gods, goddess' have switched the northeast ohio weather with that of florida. Ah well, all this sweatin makes me a better rider.
4th day of 90F temps,
humidity ranging from 30 - 60% with very scattered thunderstorms usually in the evening
Actually, it's been very warm, humid, sticky and unstable here for about 3 days now- it's like being in soup! We've had thunderstorm watches and warnings on and off. However, it's supposed to end and tomorrow is supposed to be cooler, drier and sunny. Then we're supposed to get HOT weather in time for the long weekend (canada day)- it'll be about 85 degrees, almost FL temps!

Fellow Floridians, did you get a little dose of that sunshine that was hanging around this AM? I got an hour and a half of riding time in before it clouded over. Do you think the worst is over?

Yeah oceanrider, I think the worst is over, It looks like we are getting back to our normal pattern of sun in the morning and afternoon tunderstorms. At least I hope so! It's been enough. The last 3 weeks I've probably ridden only 100 miles. I started growing again. (horizontaly that is :D )

Did it really go away? I don't remember because if it did, it's back. This is week 5 or 6 I think. We did have a few short days off. I seem to remember some long rides like the one on the 4th was nice and sunny. There was sunlight filtering through the canopy of trees overhead. It felt good to sweat. Maybe it's time to invest in a trainer but it just wouldn't be the same. The combination of sunlight, perspiration and fresh air can't be duplicated indoors. Ugh. Help!!
