Bicycle Mechanics - direct drive hub

Hello

For some time I am looking for a direct drive hub with internal gear. I saw a picture of one in the book "Bicycling science", but I cannot find a place where to buy it. Any idea where to find such a hub?

You talking about an internally geared fixed gear hub? If you find one, let me know. I'll buy it off of you for $20--maybe even more...

Any shop that deals with QBP can get you one from Shimano, Sram, or Rohloff with from three to seven gears. You can also keep hitting thrift stores until you find an old threespeeder.

I suppose you are talking about ordinary internal gear hubs. What I am talking about is is that you attached cranks and pedals on one of these direct drive hubs and you pedal directly on the wheel. No need for chain.

Which do you find more reliable in 3-speed, the Shimano, Sram/Sachs, or SA? Will any of them be workable with a barcon shifter, or do they all need shifter pods designed with them in mind? Might better be in a separate thread... so if you don't see this, I'll start one!

internally geared unicycle hub? cool... I don't think anyone makes anyting like that, but look into schlumpf bottom brackets
