General Cycling Discussion - Panasonic bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Are these bikes still manufactured? Are they a quality bike? The reason I asked is that I passed up the opportunity to purchase a pansonic road at a garage a couple of weeks ago. The bike appeared to be a good shape, and had a make offer sign posted on it. I have kicked myself for not buying it
I only vaguely remember them as OK bikes. Probably the equal of Bridgestone, Fuji, Raleigh. . .They are still being made in Japan. Don't know of any American distributors.
Panasonic road bikes were very good bikes of excellent quality for the era.
There are not many made these days - and as I understand, they are mostly for the Japanese market. IF they are still available new in the USA, I would like to know about it.
Most of the Panasonic bikes these days are produced in China and are OK machines, but not nearly of the quality of the all Japanese made bicycles of yesteryear.
