What type of shoes should I buy to use with my clips? Cycling shoes without the hardware?? Thx!

That's a good idea... otherwise any comfortable shoes with a hard sole would do!

Shoes that are water resistant is important while touring, also having a second pair can also be useful.

A few days ago in a similar thread a couple of people were saying to use indoor soccer shoes. I checked them out at a local sporting goods store and they are almost exactly like the touring shoes that used to be available before clipless pedals came along. some will have a eva midsole( stiffer) and some will not, The stiffer sole is considered better for comfort and effiency.

With regard to the soccer shoes. I bought a new pair last week. Nice for cycling and for walking. An added plus of course is if you get fed-up of cycling you can get off and have a game with the locals

Yeah, whatever you do, no cleats!

Have any of the anti-cleat people ever actually tried them?? It's like the difference between walking and crawling....

To play football with the locals, just go barefoot. =)

I dunno. I've been rather happy with my Lake MX101 shoes. While they have the option to go clipless I use my for a clipped pedal. *shrug* Worked well for the last year or so.

I find no problem touring with cleats, I have a pair of mountainbike spds that have recessed cleats so walking is just fine and they look good, also very fast to get in and get out because you can just use the straps instead of shoelaces.

Funny you mentioned soccer shoes, was just thinking about buying a pair.
