good morning ,

Im sure this has come up a bunch of times But what is a big Guy to do??

Ive been away from riding for a while and am now building up a surly cross check.

id love to finaly get a set of DROP Bars larger than 46 but short of chopping up a pair and welding/soldering (If It can be done) are there any options???

my ideal bar width would be a 52 (flat bars need not apply)

what have some of you larger folks done ??

many thanks "John"

Yep. Rivendale sells the nitto noodle-48cm c-c. Mine measures 50 c-c at the end of the drops. It is awesome. I had never been able to get comfortable with drop bars until I tried one of these. My shoulder joint to joint distance is 51cm. This bar is it for me-I'm going to get another one for backup. If you buy one, and don't like it, just sell it to me.

Can you post some pictures of your bike with those Nitto bars on there. P.S. I like how they aren't superlight either (384 grans for the 48's). Nothing worse than Flexy handlebars when you are riding hard.

I have 46cm bars right now and while they seem pretty adequate I could probably go for something wider. 50cm in the drops is nice.

I'll try to get some pictures when I get my digital camera back from my GF. They are pretty solid feeling for something so wide. No objectionable flex, IMO. I tried to ride some 44s the other day and it was terrible. I couldn't accellerate, climb or breath nearly as well.

Thanks Darkmother,

I just ordered a set from rivendell I hope I like them. They sound comfy. im a wide guy and never was too happy on my plain jane 46s and I hate flat bars so this looks like a better option.

I was almost ready to attempt to fabricate a pair of 50 - 52 out of of a smaller set. but Ill try these noodles first.

but not to soon im afraid as I wont have a bike to ride other than a MTB untill late next week.

many thanks "John"
