Hi
I see in some earlier postings that people have indicated that you can get the Trek 7100, 7200 with or without the front shock. All of the models I have seen at my LBS's have the shock. Is this an aftermarket option that I would request or do they order them from the manufacturer w/out the front shock.

If I get it without a shock (doing mostly paved paths and city riding) should the bike cost less money?
Thanks,
Rob

My girlfriend just bought a Trek 7100 with a rigid fork. The LBS had them on the floor at that setup, so your shop should be able to order the same model from Trek.

I'm not sure if it affects the price, though.

the trek FX models of the 7XXX series are non suspension models. Check the trek site under city/path and I think fitness, either way the FX's are solid fork and solid seatpost. Probably won't cost any less money, but may have better components. A decent shop should be able to configure things any way you'd like. My son got a 7100 last year but didn't like the twist shifters. they swapped in trigger shifters for $10 labor.

I have a 7100 with shocks and seat,, Go for this bike, you will feel the difference when you ride alot. the shocks and seat shock make a big difference.
