I was tryin on some spandex shirts today and I was wondering. Do you want a skin tight fit or a slightly loose fit? I have a choice between M, which is a little short, or L, which is larger but a little loose. Which is more conducive to proper sweat wicking?

Skin tight is more conductive to wicking away the sweat.

Are you talking about cycling jerseys or stuff like Under armour shirts? Because you said spandex, I'm getting confused.

Its the dristar shirts from walmart. I'm not sure what there made of but I read that they do a decent job for 9 bucks. I'm on a bit of a budget

I just bought three of those, two that are the combination spandex/polyester mix (stretchy and kind of glossy), and one of the looser "cotton-looking" shirts. The stretchy ones are better, probably because they are skin-tight, or nearly so. Not much wicking is going to happen if the shirt doesn't contact the sweat.

BTW, Target also carries shirts like this. They are the C9 shirts, I believe made by Champion. I didn't buy any (I had just bought the Dri-Star shirts), but they look like the same thing.

I wear all of mine tight - I go for performance. Wicks just fine with tight fit.

Tight enough that it doesn't flap in the wind.

Sweet. Yeah I'm gonna pick up some next week prolly. I just wanted to know what works better. THe C9 ones at target are $15. I'll tell you what I really need is bike shorts, but those are a little out of my budget for the moment.

Are the dristar shirts thick enough so that your nipples aren't showing through?

because I really don't like wearing shirts that do that...

I think it's personal preference. I like my jerseys kind of loose.

I hate skin tight fits, Im 5' 9 200 pounds, not a bucket or lard by anymeans but I can find a jersey loose enough. I wear a T-mobile Jersey size XXXXL and Its still too tight, wont stretch either. Kinda sucks, Youd figure a 4XL would fit a rider my size but dang what does a real clydesdale do?
