I bought a bike off of Craig's List, Monday. The price was right and after one short ride I became infatuated. Now that she's all lubed up, adjusted and has solid tires, I'm in love but ...
I still don't know much about it. The decals lead me to believe it is a Maruishi CT-12. Of course it is a 12-speed, and the lady from whom I purchased it used the bike, for all things, practical neighborhood transportation. She purchased it second-hand from a local shop two years ago, and believes it was made in 1997. I want to replace the rather rough seat and post before too much longer, and would just like a rundown on what she is, a little history would be nice, but I don't know where to go.
It is a humble cromolly-frame, cantilever-brake bike with roadie-like geometry and an upright stem, but with 559 or 26-inch wheels. Even Google is of no help with this. Does anybody know just what this humble, but butter-smooth cycle could be? or even, as the original reflectors don't bear the CPSC approved business I expect, if it's supposed to be on this continent?
I know I should just ride it and enjoy it, and let my LBS measure the seatpost with a micrometer. I can't help but to be curious.
