Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Any shoes as wide as SIDI mega?

I tried some specialized shoes today and they were too narrow. Tried some sidi mega's and they were just perfect but the style does not suit me at all. Not to mention the price. So is there anything comprable in width to the megas? I know other companies make wide shoes but I dunno wether they are AS wide. Thanks!

Greg

I've also heard that Carnac has a pretty wide toebox, but I've never tried on a pair myself.

I have a pair of Sidi Megas and a pair of Shimano SH-TR02 multisport shoes. The Shimanos are just as wide as the Megas, and do have the benefit of a carbon sole.

there are several models that are wide, but I'm wondering if anyone has direct knowledge of being AS wide. Specialized are known for width, but they're not wide enough for me.

I have Shimano 151's and they are much wider than standard italian width such as Sidi or DMT's - not sure how they are next to Mega's though!

Well Personally I am making the plunge to get the perfect shoe!

I went to my chiropractor whos knows EVERYTHING about biomechanics and he said that my feet have stopped growing . YAY! That means I can get nice shoes and not have to worry about growing out of them! I think soon I am going to my LBS to try on some Sidi megas and whatever else they reccomend. Im pretty fricken hppy right about now!!!1

Just a thought - I stocked up on lots of running shoes and so forth years ago and your feet do still change as you get older - they may get flatter, fatter, wider, etc. I wound up having to sell or give away a lot of nice shoes

Not saying your doctor is wrong or that you shouldn't be happy - but always get BOTH feet measured before buying shoes. My size changed abruptly when I was about 33...I had pretty flat feet but then they got flatter and narrower but longer.......weird. I think my arches simply fell lower, maybe from a lot of long distance running? I went from a 10 to a 11.5 practically over night. ymmv of course
