Need advice on hi-quality jerseys for summer riding. I'll be doing more riding than usual (for me) in the hi-heat parts of the day and I'm looking for a non-flashy single color jersey that feels comfortable even as I'm sweating like a pig.

Thanks.

Not a jersey as such but I like wearing a light colored basketball sleeveless shirt, covers my shoulders but lets my pits vent, no rear pockets but my summer rides are short enough not to need the space. You can buy several for the cost of a regular jersey and xmarts carry them or did. And yes they come in plain solid colors.

Just about any jersey in a lightweight hydrophobic synthetic material [Coolmax, technifine, whatever] will do the trick. You can buy these at just about any bike shop and online at Performance, Nashbar and others.

I crewed for an ultra-marathon cyclist and part of our route went through Arizona and New Mexico in the summertime. During the day, he wore a white, long sleeve, loose-fitting, thin jersey. The material felt silky and looked almost translucent. The reflective properties of the white color was the most important feature to him. It also had a long zipper in the front when he wanted to "catch" air.

I don't know where he got it or what brand it was, but it did the job! He was an Aussie and he used it back home, too.

I'll try to email him...his was always on the move, and each of his emails seemed to come from a different address! I haven't heard from him in a couple of years.

He was always testing equipment for people in exchange for some sponsorship money or supplies...the jersey may have been something like that.
