Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - I'm blocked from posting in the Want to Buy forum?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm a dork.

After trying to post to the "Wanted" forum, I learned I can't posted there until I subscribe.

thank you, move along.

In my opinion, I don't see how not allowing non-subscribers to post in WTB is helpful. I do see the reasoning behind the For Sale posting restriction and agree with it. It shouldn't matter if a non-subscriber wants something.

I'll ask Joe about it, but in my own opinion, I think there should be a distinction with people who upgrade their memberships.

I agree that there should be that distinction. I don't see where posting that you want to buy a part is that big of a deal. And no, I don't have any part needs right now.

Like I said, it's my opinion. Joe will do what he feels is right, and I'll abide by what he does. If it stays the way it is, fine. If it changes, fine.

Explain this post to me then:

Newbie user, no upgraded membership, just joined yesterday, how is he[she?] able to post in the for sale forum?

I think it has to do with the databasing that the forum operates under as much as anything else.

As charles now says, he didn't subscribe before trying to post on WTB. So what's the problem? You have to subscribe (upgrade by payment notwithstanding) to post on every other forum here.

Why not just put "I wanna buy a ______." in your signature? Or is that verboten?
