hey all y'all
i'm a regular over on the fixed/ss forum, and i've only recently become interested in mountain bikes, specifically singlespeed mtb. three questions:
1. is the bianchi b.a.s.s. a good bike for a beginner?
2. how about those oldschool bridgestones? the mb-1 for a singlesped conversion?
3. what are the more trusted (preferably classic- which i guess in mountainbike terms would be 89-94, right?) names out there?
anyhow, thx for any info you have to offer.

Horizontal or track ends make for the easiest conversions... most Bridgestones I've seen were vertical as recall making a tensioner device necessary. The BASS is a fine bike, but is aluminum as I recall, but still a nice bike. A good cheap SS new would be a Redline Monocog or for a little more a Monocog Flite.

A Bridgestone would be nice, Ritchey -nicer. IMO 1990 the frames became less decorative and mtb racing\incline frames started\ T.R anyway.
No suspension? Go chromoly.
