I think i found a better deal than the bike with Suntour Sprint. This is a Bianchi Limited from i think 8 years ago. Its in mint condition and was rarely used. It was just overhauled as well. It has The Shimano 600 gruppo (now ultegra). It also has the original wheels but im not sure about what kind they are. I also forgot to ask about the frame. This bike is being offered to me for 400+tax which is $460 CDN. Its a store so i gotta pay tax but the guy is taking a bit off cuz he knows me. Is this worth the price. I dont need new rubbers as these are practically new. Does anyone know anything about this bike and can anyone tell me all the spex and how many speeds it is.
Thanks

I've seen mid-80s Bianchi Limiteds sell in the US for $200-$250, so the price doesn't look bad. On the other hand, if the components say Shimano 600 rather than Shimano 600 Ultegra, then they're a heck of a lot older than 8 years. 600 became 600 Ultegra in 1990, and just plain Ultegra in 1998.
I can't speak for the frame, since I haven't seen it.
What's the overall condition like? Does it fit you? How does it ride?

Are they STI or downtube shifters? If it's STI, then I'm sure it's 8 speed, if it's DT shifters, I'm not sure.
I knew a guy who I think had a Limited some years ago... maybe eight years, I don't recall exactly. It was a pinkish-purple colour [lilac? lavender?] with really nice lugs. I think it was Tange Prestige steel. In any event, he really loved the bike. If my memory serves me, it was one of the Bianchis that was actually made in Asia rather than Italy [hence the Tange tubing, I guess], but that doesn't mean anything unless you care what language your welder speaks...

yes its lavender. and its 8 yrs old. do you remember if its STI or DT now. And do you know wat the stock wheels are and some ppl say Tange was better than columbus except for the fact that it wasnt as common but thats all but who cares. I aint racing (yet) so..
either way if its DT but 8 speed, i gotta set of STI levers 8 speed ultegra 600 which i can negotiate for

Cool...
If it IS a Tange Prestige frame in mint condition, and it fits, then $400 is a good price for the bike. Tange frames are, IMO, beautiful. Nice steel... whatever happened to them?
I really can't remember too much about the bike except that it was a really nice bike. STI or DT? I don't know. I'm rtacking my brain here, but I think Shimano introduced STI across its road line in 1993, so there's a good chance a 1994 bike would be STI. Having said that, I remember hearing about people having some technical problems with mid-90s ST levers, but I can't remember if it was with 600 Ultegra or Dura Ace.
1994 was a transitional time, I think, in the 7sp/8sp change. If it's STI it is definitely 8sp, if not, it could be 7sp. Sorry... I don't know any more than that.
