Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - how about these for some fancy bullhorns?

anyone ever run these bars on your fixed, or ever witnessed someone riding with the base bar only. i have a really good offer on a set of the deda ones, and they look stronger than regular horns. arm pads come off, but they might look rather ridiculous..

Those are time trial or triathlon bars...we've sold some, and see them pretty regularly but never on a fixie...

The thing about those are, they don't offer the hand positions that drop bars (or conventional bullhorns do). If you've seen them in person, you'll notice that the whole bars is flat and wide (except for the handles at the ends). They ARE light and pretty...but not my idea of a good fixie bar...

They defeat the purpose of bullhorns. Frankly, I think they'd look ridiculous on a fixed gear. They really need a disc rear and a trispoke front with the aero tops to look appropriate.

they aren't that much differnt than bullhorns. they are bullhorns, just shorter in length from what it looks like.

wait let me clearify, buying them new would defeat the purpose because they're so freaking expensive, but i can get a used set for about $40.

you have less hand positions than any other bar (flat, drop, track drop, bullhorns)..I can't see you being happy with these for $40 or $400

The Tri/TT folks who use them typically use those bars only during climbs or sprints...most of their riding is down on the aero bars (thus the arm pads that come with them)..

But hey man, for $40 if you wanna try, go for it....But be careful..THOSE Vision ones are SUPER expensive (all carbon). I haven't checked out the DEDA ones...but if they are similar...something might be fishy for $40.

i agree with bikeophile. you're essentially stuck in one position. most of my time is spent with my hands up near the stem, but that's just me.

maybe you should try riding with your hands in that position and see if it's something you could do all the time. my bet is no, but i'm not you.

hmmm..... I am a big fan of bullhorns and am always game for trying something new. I think they would be interesting, and very unique on a fixy but I just cant p icture them without the Aerobars
