OK, so I got cleaned out in a hit and run. Pretty banged up on the left side, but I'm okay. Really pissed, not about getting hurt or anything like that, more because I wish I could take out all my frustration over Torrin and Brandie on that driver.

My front rim though was jacked. I had to beat it on the sidewalk just to get it true enough to get to my friends. Its still really untrue, constant wobbly to the left and right-so can I and should I try and save it, or is it a better idea to get a new rim and build it up?

Man that sucks. Hope you didn't get hurt too badly. Toss the rim and get a new Deep-V for that Aero advantage! Lacing it up is pretty easy and truing is pretty easy too if you have a stand.

A bent rim simply cannot be trued.

It may end up being "rideable."

I've heard tell you can unlace the rim, lay it on the ground, and pound it true-ish with a rubber mallet. I tried something like that once and got unsatisfactory results but YMMV.

same thing happened here a few weeks ago. tried truing the rim with no avail. got a new rim and I'm all good. was going to get the deep Vs but then thought second about the hassle of getting long stem valves and the extra weight. didn't need it and they were out of 36 black anyway.

Nab a rim off ebay for like 10 bucks.

Hey Dumb@$$.. You never called back after this!!! Here I am on the phone, you're all stoked and rummin from gettin hit!!!

Really though, I'm glad you're ok. It's been a bad year for riders it seems. Enough that I'm almost glad I'm out to sea now and not in the streets. Almost...

Anyway.. a bummer about the rim. At least you're ok. I should have sent cash instead of beer. Did you get everything out of the bucket? That took some work to get those put in there extra tight and all. They might have still been cold!

Haha, yeah I got them all out with a lot of effort and a big mess-but I was laughing for the whole 30 minutes I was working at it. Sorry about the call back-how long are you out to sea? we're missing you out here, hijack the ship, pick up all the SS/fixie riders in cali and bring them down so we can do skid competitions on the flight deck. And play one mean game of fixie tag.

I'm out for a stretch. And then some. I got to spend 1.75 days at home this weekend and back out again. Non stop. The Betaman Bianchi is all locked up on the pier now, waiting for my return. Kind of sad, really, but I've double locked it, NY chain style on the pier.

30 minutes is all? You notice there was five? I had one not lined up right and the thing popped open when I tried to adjust it. Expanding foam has got to be the funnest thing I've ever found. I thought of putting them in caulking, but that'd get pretty heavy...

How are you feeling anyway, hurt at all? Injured? Did InkdWheels make fun of you all weekend?

SOCAL has NO love for fixie tag. No love at all.
